Medic & Fire First Responder Spotlight: Zvi Reder & Kibbutz Saad

Updated: Mar 9

Zvi Reder woke up to the mayhem of massacre on Oct. 7, 2023. He could hear the gun shots and RPG's exploding in a nearby Kibutz and when he ran to his rooftop balcony, he quickly realized the scale of the attack. We visited with Zvi to hear his story as a civilian first responder paramedic, how his son was murdered on that dark day and how after he first arrived to a quiet and clean hospital within minutes he realized that Oct. 7th was going to be a bloody and deathly day of trying to save as many lives as humanly possible.

Tzvi quickly saw and heard the destruction in his neighboring Kibbutz and sprung into action.

Tzvi Reder was one of the first paramedics to arrive to the nearby hospital with victims on the morning of Oct. 7th. He spent the day shuttling victims to safety on that horrific day.

Tavi's son For was helping a special needs child in Kibbutz Be'eri on Oct. 7th. His parents were shocked when they called their son and a terrorist answered his phone saying "I killed this person and will kill all the Jews."

Kibbutz Saad is just 2.5 km (1.56 miles) from Gaza or about a five minute drive.
